Sustainability in a Connected World is the Focus of IEEE Green ICT Conference

With the emergence of the Internet of Things, there’s an urgency to reduce electronic devices’ carbon footprint. In the February issue of The institute, Professor Jaafar Elmirghani, one of the 3 Co-Chairs for the IEEE Green ICT Initiative, talks about ICT opportunities and challenges as it means overcoming technological, economical, and public policy hurdles. That will be the focus the IEEE Green ICT Initiative’s upcoming global conference, the Greening through ICT Summit (GtICT), to be held on October 3rd in Paris. The conference’s mission is succinctly captured by its theme: “Sustainability in a Connected World.” It will be held alongside the IEEE International Conference on Communications and the International Workshop on the Application of Green Techniques to Emerging Communication and Computing Paradigms.
