The Big Picture in Greening ICT and through ICT

Charles Despins, one of the 3 Co-Chairs for the IEEE Green ICT Initiative, has published an interesting article for the Intelligent Utility Magazine that examines one of the great challenges of the 21st century: Addressing energy efficiency, carbon footprint and life cycle management of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), which currently are on an unsustainable path. ICT has a critical role in society and economic productivity and its unprecedented growth demands that we take a holistic approach to its sustainability in terms of a triple bottom line of economic, environmental and social benefits.
