New Realities – Augmented and Virtual – For ICT Sustainability

Jaafar Elmirghani, one of the 3 Co-Chairs for the IEEE Green ICT Initiative, has published an interesting article in the June’17 issue of ECN Magazine Tech Focus on Going Green that discusses how emerging consumer services may give end-users a role in greening the world.

Augmented and virtual reality are developing rapidly due to commercial opportunities to enhance how users experience the actual, physical world.  Although this trend will impact industry verticals, its embrace by consumers may produce a truly enormous wave of demand. Augmented and virtual reality thus present challenges and potential solutions to sustainability, so may end-users, the consumer of these applications.
